Read-a-Thon is the main PTA fundraiser for Montgomery Knolls and Pine Crest this year! We hope to encourage a love of reading while we raise funds to support school and community programs at MKPC. We will celebrate all of our student readers with fun prizes and awards!

Getting Started:

Each child will receive a Reading Log  and a Pledge Form. Students are encouraged to set a goal and log their reading time.

Students will ask family, friends and neighbors to donate as they work hard to reach their reading goals and to support MKPC PTA programs to support the school. Click here to sign up online.

Prizes and Fun:

Each week on Friday  we may have guest readers at each school to get our students excited about literacy.

We will have class and top reader prizes based on participation. Fundraising is not required for receiving awards or prizes, participation is based on turning in a completed Reading Log.

For each $25 donated, the child’s teacher will be entered in a raffle to win funding for their classroom library!

Awards and prizes will be presented to our top readers/fundraisers during the final assembly!

Sharing Books:

Montgomery Knolls: Each classroom will have “I Read a Great Book!” tabs that they can submit to share books with their peers and school. Students may be selected to share about their great book on the announcements, be interviewed by TV Team and/or be featured on the bulletin board celebrating all the wonderful books our students have read! Completed tabs can be submitted in the Media Center.

Pine Crest: Each classroom will have Challenge Book tabs available which students will be able to enter for raffle prize drawings. In order to submit a Challenge Book tab, a child needs to read a book that is a challenge for them. Since this will be very different depending on the child, each Challenge Book must be verified to be a challenge and signed by the student’s teacher. The completed and signed tab can be submitted into the Challenge Book jar in the Media Center at any time during the Read-a-Thon. Students who have completed challenge books may also be selected to share their challenge book achievements.
