The MKPC PTA is once again sponsoring the Geo Bowl! This year, the students will be tackling Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.  The goal of this program is to create enthusiasm for geography, while having fun and bolstering school spirit through a little friendly team competition. Help make this year's event a success!

April 3 Update:  The Pine Crest Geo Bowl is Friday, April 6.  Parents and families are invited to watch the Geo Bowl teams compete against each other as they test their geography knowledge during grade-level school assemblies.  The Geo Bowls will be held in the Pine Crest gym.  Below are the times for the Geo Bowls:

Third Grade:     9:45-10:45 am
Fourth Grade:  10-11 am
Fifth Grade:     2:30-3:30 pm

Come cheer on your student!  Also, we could use additional volunteers to help on the day of the Geo Bowl.  No geography knowledge needed!  Please sign up to volunteer using this link.

January 31st Geo Bowl Update:  The Geo Bowl Quiz is next week!  What is the Geo Bowl Quiz?  It is the quiz that will be used to select students for placement on Geo Bowl Teams within each grade.  The teams will then meet once a week during lunch for several weeks to continue to study geography facts, with the help of parent coaches, to get ready for the Geo Bowl on April 6th.  Here's a hint for one part of the quiz: know the capital cities of the countries!  Here's a link to the Geo Bowl packet as well as the answer key.   Click for more information about the Geo Bowl and volunteer opportunities.

January 24, 2018 Geo Bowl Update: The Geo Bowl Quiz for selection to compete on a Geo Bowl Team is fast approaching, and the students are already showing impressive geography knowledge!  Remember that Geo Bowl packets are due by January 31st. They will be returned with an answer key by Friday, February 2nd.  Your student will need to study that weekend because the Geo Bowl Quiz will the week of February 5th, precise date to be determined by individual classroom teachers.  If for some reason your child does not take the quiz that week, you must contact Sangita Rao Leonard at [email protected] by February 9th, and we will try to make other arrangements.  Happy Geo Bowling!
